I was born and raised just outside Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania. Growing up in a small town, I became a die-hard Steeler and Pirates fan and continue that passion today. “You can take the girl out of the steel town, but you can not take the steel town out of the girl”.
When I returned to San Diego, I worked at several different sites as a TA and long- term sub from kindergarten thru 6th grade when my children were younger. I enjoyed subbing as it gave me the freedom to be room mom and volunteering in their classrooms. When I started teaching at Pershing Middle School, I truly found a home. I have taught 7th grade Social Studies and 6th grade Social Studies, Science, and now English at Pershing for the past 14 years. I also had the honor to be ASB advisor for 5 years. I loved being the ASB advisor because it gave me the opportunity to work with my past students. It was the best of both worlds. Pershing it is a wonderful school with an amazing staff. We are a family here.
In my spare time, I try to keep up with my daughter’s busy club and high school field hockey schedule and helping plan her senior activities. We are also busy touring colleges; so far she is most excited about Santa Barbara. My son, Jake, graduated from Pershing and PHHS in 2014.. He has joined the work force and goes to community college when it fits his schedule. My daughter also attended Pershing.. My family is complete with my 3 dogs they are more like my children- just ask them.
I am excited about this school year. Together we can make this year a success.
